Not Every Voice Is His
When you finally get quiet, the noise does not stop immediately. It shifts.
Three voices compete for your attention once the external distractions settle down. You need to know how to identify each one because acting on the wrong voice creates the detours you are trying to avoid.
Fear is the first voice. It is urgent. It feels like a warning. It catastrophizes quickly and pushes you toward self-protection. Fear tells you everything that could go wrong if you move.
Logic is the second voice. It sounds wise. It builds a reasonable case for staying where you are or choosing the safer option. Logic is not always wrong, but it will lead you right out of your purpose if you let it.
Peace is the third voice. It is the quietest of the three. It does not perform. It does not argue. It asks something of you and then waits. When you push back on peace, it does not get louder or more dramatic. It stays.
That stability is the signal. Keep what carries peace.
Discernment is the practice of learning to recognize that signal before you act. It takes repetition. It takes sitting with what you received long enough to see which voice is still standing after fear and logic have made their case.
God spoke to Elijah in a still small voice. Not the wind. Not the earthquake. Not the fire. The voice came after all of that. You have to outlast the noise to hear it.
Today, sit with what you are currently sensing. Ask yourself which voice it carries. Tomorrow we will talk about what you do once you know it is Him.
